Local Staples™ to kick-off 2nd annual drawing for $400 a school supply shopping spree to Charlotte teachers
CHARLOTTE, NC, AUGUST 14, 2010- With cutbacks in school funding amidst our current fragile economy, Staples™(Smith Corners location, exit 18 off I-77) will team up with a pair of local chiropractic physicians to provide one lucky teacher on “Teacher Appreciation Day” with a $400 school supply shopping spree before students return to school next week. Teacher Appreciation Day is a yearly event held at multiple Staples™ locations throughout Charlotte and surrounding regions. This annual event involves school supply give-a-ways, door-crasher specials, prizes and gifts from local business vendors who donate their time and resources to help equip teachers with their back-to-school needs. With continuing budget cuts in CMS funding and other school boards, teachers have been known to spend as much as $500 worth out-of-pocket expenses (non-reimbursable) to equip their classrooms with teaching supplies required for their own particular learning environment. I am a holistic Maximized Living Doctor but also the very proud mother of a lively and healthy 3-year old girl. After much research into vaccines to know how to best protect my girl from illness I have become driven to teach as many as possible about the pros and cons of vaccinations. I get that the pressure out there is strong and the system is in place to have all of us believe that vaccinations are effective, safe, and our ONLY option. Well I am here to challenge you otherwise if that is your belief. You may feel propelled to put this newsletter down right now but I urge you to fight your first instinct to shut down if I am going against what you know. What we first learn has the most profound impact on what we think and do and the hardest to re-learn. Any change in paradigm is difficult and rejection of new information is much easier. Well I am going to beg you to let yourself be confused, dumbfounded, and overwhelmed by the truth. What is the truth? Well that is what we are going to cover at the Vaccine workshop we have scheduled NEXT Monday at 7pm. Here are some major beliefs and concerns we will tackle: · If unvaccinated, what if I catch a contractible disease? · Not vaccinating is socially irresponsible, as unvaccinated children place other children at risk. · A child may not be able to attend school unless she is vaccinated. · If I have vaccinated y children I cannot simply stop. · What to do for travel abroad? | Solving The Diabetic Dilemma |

Diabetes IS Reversible According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the diabetes “epidemic” in the US does not show any signs of slowing down. One out of every 4 people that you know will get diabetes, and of those people, more than 50% don’t know that they have it. By only responding to the “symptom” of the diabetes, which is to lower the blood sugar directly, the CAUSE as to why the blood sugar is elevated in the first place continues to be ignored (Insulin resistance). The problem is that the most common meds used today for managing type 2 diabetes are designed to suppress normal liver function (Metformin), hyper-stimulate an insulin-depleted pancreas (Glucotrol, Prandin, Starlix), convert excess blood glucose into fat cells (Avandia & Actos), or have the side effect that increases risk of heart attack by 43% (Avandia, Actos). Here is the life-saving question: When you get your annual physicals, why doesn’t your doctor measure your healthy insulin (closer to the cause), than elevated sugar levels (symptom focus)? Which blood test do you think the drug companies would rather you show low levels in to justify being on their drugs for the rest of your life? Guess who writes the drug prescription for you to fill and purchase at your local pharmacy? There is no profit for teaching you HOW to follow healthier habits that has been clinically proven to reverse type-2 diabetes. Dr Ron Rosedale MD, one of the leading authorities on diabetes and cardiovascular disease, even coined the term “Doctor Induced Exacerbation (D.I.E)” to describe how conventional medicine is causing people living with type 2-diabetes to have their pancreas eventually shut down and develop type 1-diabetes. In my first two years in undergrad, as I was headed towards a medical degree, I took a whole lot of psychology classes. I assumed most problems with getting people well would revolve around mindsets and emotions. (It turned out that I was right.) In many of my classes, we had to review some horrible animal studies - studies that would surely be shut down if PETA found out about them. Several of these studies involved putting food and/or freedom in front of an animal. When the animal would move toward the food or toward freedom, it would receive a nasty jolt of electricity. With enough shocks and time, that animal no longer attempted to either meet its needs or pursue freedom. It gave up; overwhelmed, over-stressed, and permanently deterred by pain of the shock. If you have any goals at all, especially big ones, you're going to run into challenges, conflict, opposition, resistance, failure, rejection, and struggle... Stress. In other words, you'll likely get "shocked" any time you go for anything worth having. Suffer enough shocks, enough "stress", and unfortunately, eventually you'll believe you can't or that it's not worth it. Over time, you learnhopelessness. Stress creates a measurable effect on your ability to remember, learn, function, and hope. The more intense the stress, the greater the damage. In war time, battlefront situations can create enough stress in short period of time to brainwash someone into hopelessness. That is an obvious example where anyone would expect that result. It's more insidious than that for the typical person in that it happens more gradually and almost unconsciously. Daily stresses, over time, can brainwash anyone into hopelessness and despair; brainwash them into being a limited person. The saddest story ever told is what "Might've been;" the life we could have lived if we hadn't let the "shocks" or the stress deter us. When we are brainwashed, we believe the lie of hopelessness that our problems, our "shocks," are quitting points that can't be overcome. In reality, the problems we face are not stop signs, but guide posts on the path of life, learning, and success. How this looks today, from a health care perspective, is that people succumb to hopelessness and give up when it comes to their mental and physical wellness. This quitting looks like only 13% of Americans exercising, 60% of Americans overweight, 30% morbidly obese, and medicating our hopelessness with anti-depressants. Outside of health care, learned hopelessness is at the core and very much responsible for the job and economic crisis. Learned hopelessness makes it so most people don't believe in their dreams, and worse, don't know that they don't believe in their dreams anymore. They wouldn't recognize their dreams, by this point, if they came and kissed them in the face. Which is, in fact, what their dreams are doing. LIFE IS STAGNANT WITHOUT ENERGY
If you take the time to interview 100 individuals that have made it to 65 and asked them, what is the most important aspect to your life at your age. Over 90% of them would say their quality of life.
